He constantly wants to remind us that men and women are different due to their hormones and points to a variety of claims that are supposed to prove this point. The entire book lacked proof of cause and effect in his research. Examples include his statement that a contributing factor to a man’s testosterone levels is based on his mother’s hormone levels while he was in utero. I found what he deems to be factual to be nothing but his own opinions. Studies that he references from are not notated. This book is such a disgrace to research as Gray does not source a single “fact” that he lists in his book.
There was a point where he discusses reasons why men interrupt women as if he’s justifying it or trying to mansplain this bad behavior to women. I found it to be straight up insulting at times. John Gray’s “new and updated” followup to his original book is nothing but a continuation of stereotypes of men and women in today’s society. If this wasn’t a book club book, I would have put it down after the first 50 pages.
